Scent Lantern exists to help people make confident decisions about home fragrance. We aim to be clear, practical, and honest: to explain how products work, compare them on the merits, and never present advertising as impartial advice.
How We Research and Evaluate Products
Our guides draw on a combination of manufacturer specifications, ingredients and materials, burn or diffusion times, safety features, brand track record, warranties and return policies, and patterns across genuine customer reviews. Where a product has been evaluated hands-on, we describe that experience directly; where it has not, we make that clear and rely on the strongest available evidence. We favor established, widely available products over obscure or unsupported claims.
How We Choose What to Feature
Products are selected for relevance and quality, then organized by factors such as room size, format, budget, and use case. A product’s affiliate status or commission rate does not determine whether it is included or where it ranks. We would rather recommend fewer, better options than pad a list.
Factual Accuracy and Corrections
We work to keep information accurate and current and revisit articles when products, prices, or formulations change. If you spot an error, tell us via the contact page with the page link; verified corrections are made promptly and noted when appropriate.
Health and Safety Language
We write about fragrance as a matter of scent, atmosphere, and enjoyment. We do not claim that any product treats, cures, or prevents medical conditions, and we avoid language that substitutes for professional advice. We do call out ordinary safety considerations, such as never leaving a burning candle unattended, keeping concentrated oils away from children and pets, and ventilating rooms properly.
